More Hotel Details

Some Luxury Included Boutique Resorts have extraordinary facilities, others are small and personal with modern amenities and authentic Caribbean experiences, but none offer the Outstanding Value of Curtain Bluff, Antigua.

This Antiguan Beachfront Hotel is 100% All Inclusive and consistently ranked among the best Inclusive Resorts and tennis centres in the world!

There are two restaurants: the open-walled Tamarind Tree serving breakfasts and candle-lit dinners, and The Sea Grape restaurant where barefoot casual lunches and romantic dinners are enjoyed one step from the sand and a few feet from the water's edge.

The resort's exceptional facilities include a championship tennis centre, a fully equipped water-sports centre, offering scuba, Windsurfing, paddle-boarding, water-skiing, Hobie Cats and kayaks, a squash court and a fitness centre.

When it's time to relax, there's a tranquil spa overlooking the sea, a beach-side swimming pool, a beach bar and hammocks swaying in the shade of coconut palms.

And with the exception of a few above-and-beyond luxuries, such as Cuban cigars, vintage wines and spa treatments, everything is included in your room rate, making it one of the best value resorts in the Caribbean.

Restaurants & Bars

The food at Curtain Bluff is one of the biggest reasons loyal guests keep coming back year after year. Imaginative, varied and simply delicious.

Since every gourmet meal you taste is included in the room rate, it's what truly sets this resort apart from others.

The Tamarind Tree restaurant is open-walled in the traditional plantation style, this, the main restaurant looks out over a terrace canopied by the spreading limbs of a majestic tamarind tree, which gives it it's name.

At breakfast the restaurant is shaded from the bright morning sun and cooled by a breeze from the sea, just visible through the palms. The menu includes favourites like banana pancakes, French toast and Eggs Benedict, plus traditional island dishes, fresh juices and fruit. All breads, croissants and pastries are freshly baked by the accomplished pastry chef.

At dinner the tables are flecked with candlelight and the terrace sparkles with decorative lights. Changing every night, the five-course menu always includes salads, locally caught fish, outstanding meats, healthy options and so many desserts they have their own menu.

Each evening there is a different band and as diners filter out of the restaurant to sit at the terrace tables, the tempo builds and couples dance in the moonlight.

The Seagrape restaurant sits at the far end of the Bay Beach, open to the sea breezes, right on the sand, and just feet from the water's edge. At lunchtime, guests filter in from the beach wearing T-shirts and beach cover-ups to enjoy the famous lunch buffets, including the weekly beach-barbeque lunch accompanied by a live steel-drum band.

Depending on time of the season, the Seagrape becomes a second dinner venue for 4 or 5 nights a week. Limited to just 40 guests per night, it serves delicious Italian/Antiguan influenced cuisine as tiki torches flicker on the sand and the sea is streaked by moonlight.

In addition to breakfast and dinner in the Tamarind Tree Restaurant and the Seagrape and the buffet lunch in the Seagrape, afternoon tea is served on the stone Sugar Mill terrace, overlooking the gardens. Hors d'oeuvres are served at cocktail hour in the Sugar Mill Bar.

Activities & Things To Do

Time moves slowly at Curtain Bluff. There is room in every day to play a set of tennis, scuba dive or snorkel on the reef, skim across the bay on a Hobie Cat.

Maybe you'll choose to work out on the elliptical, melt into a massage, cast a line in the deep blues, whoosh through the forest canopy on a zip-line and delve into Antigua's rich history... or simply swing in a hammock to the rhythm of the waves and lose yourself in that long-awaited novel.

At Curtain Bluff you can be as active as you want to be, lying in the shade or jumping from one sport to the next. Since all activities, including watersports, are included in the room rate, the choice is yours. A big favourite is the twice daily snorkeling trips, by boat, which is also included in your stay!

All water activities are at no extra cost to guests at Curtain Bluff: scuba diving (including all necessary equipment), aqua aerobics, use of the Lap Pool, Waterskiing and wakeboarding (speedboat, equipment and instruction), Beach toys, such as Hobie Cats, paddleboats, kayaks and Windsurfers, Snorkel equipment (fins, mask and snorkel) and two daily reef trips, Beach chairs, hammocks and sun floats.

Many Caribbean resorts can claim a beautiful beach, but how many have two ... totally different in mood and only steps from your room?

The softly curving Bay Beach is the hub of daytime activity (and inactivity). The jetty at one end is the departure point for dive trips, water-skiing and rides on the Super Mable (an inflatable raft that is towed behind a boat). Sheltered by Cades Reef (the site for the twice-daily snorkeling trips), the water is calm and clear, perfect for swimming, sailing a Hobie and kayaking. Recliners cluster in the shade of palapas.

At the other end of the beach is the Beach Cafe and Bar, throughout the day, beach concierges deliver cold drinks, coconuts, ice lollies and other small treats.

At the back of this beach, surrounded by palms, lies the swimming pool with its two lap lanes; the basketball half-court - perfect for a pick-up game with the guys, the court is lit and stocked with basketballs. You'll also find two courts for bocce and two more for shuffleboard.

All of the resorts rooms run along the back of Surf Beach, an undulating stretch of golden sand shaded by palms. The less used of the two beaches, it's ideal for quiet contemplation, playing in the surf and swinging in a hammock to the rhythm of the waves.

Enjoying these two features of beach life is truly unique. Being in the thick of it on the calm Bay Beach or letting the sound of the surf erase stress and allowing the calming moments of solitude bring you back to centre on the Surf Beach. Experiencing it will really make you appreciate the added dimension these two beautiful beaches bring to Curtain Bluff.

Very few resorts can claim the quality and beauty of the courts, pros, equipment and events that you find at Curtain Bluff. Squash is an easy sport to pick up and is excellent exercise.Squ ash time is included at Curtain Bluff, as are complimentary rackets, balls, goggles and even instruction, all available through the Tennis Pro Shop.

The Tennis Centre has four championship hard courts centered around a Pro Tennis shop - an easy lob shot from the sea. All are in impeccable condition and lit for night play. The three resident pros — Rennie, Nigel and Dillo — are trained in the U.S. to teach aptitudes right up to 5.5 (nearly a pro) and ready at 7:00 AM to take a guest's challenge, pair guests together for a game or work on that backhand. Private lessons cost $US 70 per hour.
